The Dina Foundation
The Dina foundation was established in October 2004 and officially registered in August 2005 with the organization number 887 615 942.
The Dina foundation delivers humanitarian aid to refugees, areas hit by natural disasters, victims of war atrocities and others who are suffering for a number of reasons irrespective of ethnic group, nationality, political affiliation or religion.
The Dina Foundations is to initiate and participate in programs, projects and processes that aim at improving the living standard of people groups in developing nations, ensure basic human rights and contribute to peace and reconciliation.
The Dina Foundation is to inform the public at an international level about people who are suffering, the cause of their suffering, the resources available to help and how other people can relieve their suffering.
The Dina Foundation uses teams of local partners in their aid projects, and are engaged in DR Congo, in Goma and Bukavu. In addition there is fieldwork in the northeastern part of DR Congo among pygmies and homeless young girls raped by the guerillas.
The Dina Foundation also maintains a large mountain area in the region of Masisi in DR Congo. With the permission of the government this has become a base for the pygmies. By January 2006, 200 pygmy families built homes on the mountain slopes.
We are also engaged in the capital of Rwanda, where in collaboration with local partners we run a Kigali hospital for people infected with HIV/Aids.
The Dina Foundation is currently in a stage of growth. In 2005 the foundation expanded the Dina centre for girls in Goma, and is currently establishing another home for young victims of rape in Bukavu.
The Dina foundation receives funding for its projects from private donors, companies, organizations and government funds.
The Foundation is directed and managed from Norway by Rune Edvardsen.
